Early Holocaust Deniers and C. S. Lewis PDF Print E-mail

When news of German war atrocities in Poland first reached the British public, many in the armed forces refused to believe it. In riding a night train filled with British servicemen, Lewis discovered that nearly all of them chalked up such reports to allied “Propaganda.”  This encounter inspired the December 1944 editorial by Lewis entitled, “Private Bates.” The incident was later retold in chapter 3 of Reflections on the Psalms.

C.S. Lewis to airmen at RAF Feltwell, 1942: “What God creates is not God; just as what man makes is not man. That is why men are not Sons of God in the sense that Christ is. They may be like God in certain ways, but they are not things of the same kind. They are more like statues or pictures of God….This world is a great sculptor's shop. We are the statues and there is a rumour going round the shop that some of us are some day going to come to life.”

 
Sehnsucht Volume 1 to be Reprinted PDF Print E-mail

Back by popular demand, Volume 1 of Sehnsucht: The C.S. Lewis Journal is being reprinted (fourth printing). Beginning next month, Volumes 1, 2 and 3 will all be available for purchase from the Arizona C.S. Lewis Society.

General Editor Grayson Carter reports that Volume 3 of Sehnsucht: The C.S. Lewis Journal has been sent to Wipf and Stock for printing. The Table of Contents is posted under the “Our Journal” section. Inquiry has also been made concerning a fourth reprinting Volume 1, though no final decision  has yet been made.
